FAQ

We invite you to read the answers to the most frequently asked questions:

According to the principles of physiology, a correct sitting position is one with the legs resting on the ground. Each physiotherapist will confirm that the lack of support under the feet is unfavorable for the health of the child as well as for adults.
The lack of support under the legs in the car seat adversely affects the child’s psychomotor skills. The most common symptom is disturbance of blood and lymph circulation in the extremities and the accompanying increase in muscle tone. Tingling or numbness in the legs is a consequence. Children also often feel uncertainty and anxiety about overloads during the braking maneuver – they have the impression that they will fall down. Sudden jerks amplify these feelings.
The motor development of preschool children is rapid. Then, the physiological curves of the spine stabilize. The legs of the child sitting in the car seat, hanging unsupported, push the pelvis and hips forward. The back, at the lumbar level, then loses contact with the backrest of the seat. A void is created that is not favorable for the spine in this position.
The KneeGuardKids footrest fits virtually all forward facing car seats. It cannot be used with car seat bases equipped with an additional support.
The KneeGuardKids footrest can be attached both to vehicles with and without the ISOFIX system. In both cases, the mount is equally stable. We invite you to see the video instruction we have prepared, which includes assembly details.
The footrest does not prevent the child from taking a seat in the car. On the contrary, the child has an easier task – he can support himself on the footrest to take the correct position in the seat. Due to the maximum load of 30 kg, we do not recommend standing and jumping on the footrest. Getting into the car can be seen in movie 1 or movie 2.
When motion sickness is caused by stress during movement, the comfortable rest of the legs on the footrest helps to calm the child down. It feels more confident being able to rest your feet freely on a stable support. Parents’ opinions confirm this. No studies have been conducted in this direction, but the use of the KneeGuardKids footrest will definitely help to rule out motion sickness. When the symptoms have ceased, it means that administration of pharmacological agents is no longer necessary.
You are aware that in the event of sudden braking, your child may be seriously injured if he or she is not sitting properly in the seat. You then break away from the steering wheel to correct your child’s position. Unfortunately, this behavior can distract you as a driver and distract you from driving confidently and safely! The footrest removes the source of the problem. The child’s legs are no longer troubling him. And you as a driver have no reason to be distracted.
By using the KneeGuardKids footrest, we strive to reduce the pressure under the child’s thighs. Therefore, the height setting of the platform should be selected so that the legs in the area of the lower legs do not rest on the edge of the car seat. If the feet do not rest on the platform with the entire plane, we recommend that you adjust the angle of support. Installation and adjustment details can be viewed in the instruction video.
The great advantage of the KneeGuardKids footrest is its wide adjustment range, thanks to which it grows with the child. It can be used by children from 2 years of age up to 9-10 years. The sooner it starts to be used, the more it can be used.
For the convenience of our customers, we have prepared two versions of the assembly instructions. Standard version in pfd. See the video tutorial here.
For children up to 3 years of age, the foot platform should be mounted above the mounting plate. The age of the child is indicative. The child’s height decides. By following the video instruction, you can adjust the height within 38 cm.
The KneeGuardKids footrest is certified by TÜV Nord. The KneeGuardKids footrest has also been crash-tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), FMVSS standard 213, “Child Restraint System.” The crash test shows that the KneeGuardKids remains in place during the simulation.
The KneeGuardKids footrest is mounted between the car seat and the vehicle seat, ensuring a stable connection. In addition, the central location makes it easier for children to place their feet comfortably on the platform.
In Europe, the purchase of the KneeGuardKids footrest is subject to a 24-month warranty. The product is designed as a footrest for a car seat and should be used as intended. It should not be used as a landing.
If dirty, clean the footrest with a mild detergent and then dry it with a paper towel or a soft cloth. Do not use any strong cleaning agents (e.g. solvents).
Sand grains or other debris may get into the footrests under the sole of your shoes and make adjustments difficult. We recommend removing dirt to minimize scratches on the bracket when changing the height. Any scratches do not affect the performance of the product.
The KneeGuardKids footrest can be moved between cars just like the car seat. Disassembly in the car is intuitive, you do not need to disconnect individual elements. It is enough to detach the ISOFIX carabiners or the mounting clips between the gap between the seat and the backrest of the car seat. Then move it to another car. We encourage you to read the video instruction.
